Informulab Commissions Third and Fourth Clinical Studies on Beta Fast GXR, Extended Release Gymnema Sylvestre On Type 1 and 2 Diabetes Patients

Informulab of Omaha, NE has announced its third and fourth clinical trials on Beta Fast GXR Glucose Balance, an extended release form of Gymnema sylvestre (GS) extract, an Indian Ayurvedic plant. Previous trials on Beta Fast and GS have produced marked reductions in blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in Type-1 and 2 diabetes patients.

Conducted by Dr. Stephen H. Williams MD of Omaha and Merle Shapera MS RD CDE of Oak Park, IL, the new studies seek to answer whether Beta Fast effectively promotes improved glucose control in Type-1 and Type-2 diabetics when used in conjunction with insulin and/or prescription oral hypoglycemic medications. Beta Fast contains 400mg of standardized Gymnema sylvestre extract per extended release tablet. The plant has been used safely for centuries as a natural treatment to help reduce high blood sugar levels.

The Omaha trial protocol calls for a double blind, placebo controlled study administered to a population of 100 Type-1 and Type-2 diabetes patients for a period of 90 days. Study participants will undergo pre- and post- HbA1c tests to determine efficacy of Beta Fast versus placebo. “Beta Fast holds promising potential to the growing population of people with diabetes. A high quality, thoroughly tested natural oral hypoglycemic agent that is reasonably priced and available without a prescription provides an important option to those with diabetes,” explains Williams, whose practice serves hundreds of diabetes patients. Separately, the study headed by Shapera will test Beta Fast GXR on Type-2 diabetics in conjunction with oral medications. Twenty-five patients are expected to participate.

Findings from Informulab’s first clinical trial on Beta Fast revealed substantial reductions in HbA1c’s, pre- and post-prandial glucose levels. Results are available at http://www.informulab.com/html/science1.shtml. Informulab’s second clinical trial is nearing completion at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Marc Rendell MD, chief endocrinologist at the Creighton Diabetes Center in Omaha, directs the trial.

Beta Fast is sold in over 3000 pharmacies nationwide including Longs Drugs, Kroger, Weis, Mays, Medicine Chest, Medicine Shoppe, Hy-Vee and at the company’s web site, www.informulab.com. Informulab, Beta Fast and GXR are registered trademarks of Wen-Cin Marketing, Inc. of Omaha, NE. The company develops, tests and markets natural health products for sale worldwide.
